We actively encourage
and welcome feedback from all in the community, as well as everyone involved
in the implementation of the Newbiggin Life project. If you would like
to send comments for inclusion on this page, please email your comments
to feedback@newbigginlife.co.uk.
During the July 1st
Launch Event at the Newbiggin Sports and Community Centre, many feedback
forms were filled in by Newbiggin residents. The following information
summarises the responses.
- "I'm living
in hope of a complete turnaround, giving Newbiggin a name to be proud
of"
- "Newbiggin
is great, but it needs more shops"
- "An injection
of enthusiasm can only help the village"
- "I love living
in Newbiggin"
- "Thank you
for trying to revitalise our wonderful village"
- "There exists
great potential in Newbiggin"
- "Having lived
in Newbiggin for only seven months, we are very impressed by the future
plans"
- "Newbiggin
has a lot of potential and the locals deserve better"
- "Newbiggin
would benefit from updating and renovating, and more positive publicity"
- "I wish the
proposals every success"
- "Radical improvements
needed and I would be happy to help"
Many suggestions were
made for ways in which the village could be improved, including:
- More visible policing
- Better public toilets
- More support for
the disabled
- An improvement
to the cleanliness of the village and beach
- More and better
shops, and a bank
- More provision
for children and youth
- Road and footpath
repairs
- Better public transport
links
- Development of
presently unused land
- New housing, both
private and rented
- Attention to empty
rented property
- Better leisure
facilities
- Speed restrictions
required
Whilst the overwhelming
majority of responses indicated that villagers:
- liked living in
Newbiggin
- were satisfied
with their home
- liked the coastal
location
- recognised a good
community spirit.
The key areas for
concern were to do with:
- Transport
- The reputation
of the village
- Shopping
- Leisure facilities
