Swift response to residents concerns!

A successful bid for £500,000 has been granted to Wansbeck District Council to fund a new enforcement team for Newbiggin and East Ashington. The team, consisting of a manager and 7 officers, will deal swiftly with complaints about dog fouling, drugs misuse, graffiti, litter, fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, nuisance neighbours and noisy barking dogs. Officers will be seen regularly patrolling the streets and you will be able to approach them with any issues that are concerning you when you see them out and about. Recruitment is underway now and it is expected that the team will commence work in the next few weeks.

Alongside this a Police Community Response Team (CRT) consisting of a Sergeant and 6 Constables based at Ashington Police Station. This team will be dedicated to reducing crime and disorder primarily within East Ashington and Newbiggin. Using an intelligence led approach, the team will focus on crime and disorder hotspots and persistent offenders to bring them to justice.
