How does the village look?
Those who attended the open days also completed a survey to tell us what they thought about the general appearance of the village and what, in their opinion, spoiled it. Here are the results :

What do you think of the appearance of the village?

What, if anything spoils the appearance of where you live? (Multiple answers)

Mr. Bob Stephenson, Wansbeck Council's Chief Executive, said : "The information supplied by Newbiggin residents will be invaluable to us planning the improvements in village life that everyone wants to see, and I would sincerely thank all of you who took the time and trouble to contribute to this consultation process.

"By being involved in this way you can be reassured that you are having a real genuine impact on the regeneration of your village by expressing your hopes and aspirations for the future, as well as highlighting some of your concerns and worries at present.

"There were some extremely interesting answers given during the consultations, two of which show that an amazing 98 per cent of the people surveyed said that they like living in Newbiggin and another 87 per cent said they were unlikely to want to move in the next two years.

"That to se says that the vast majority of you are content to live in Newbiggin, and I believe that by working together in partnership to use the information you have supplied, we can make the village an even better place to live, work and grow up in.

"My message to you is to stay with the consultation process; to become involved with the plans for improving the village at every stage possible; and in this way we will together bring about real and genuine improvements to Newbiggin Life."
