Be a good neighbour
As the age old adage says, everyone needs good neighbours. To help achieve this we have established the Newbiggin Neighbourhood Management Initiative.
The Newbiggin team is based at the Sports Centre bungalow, Woodhorn Road .
The latest additions to the team are Jon Whitehouse and Allan Ballance who have been appointed as Park Force rangers. The pair who have experience in a range of disciplines will be responsible for maintaining public spaces to create cleaner, greener estates for the people of Newbiggin.
Priorities of the initiative include improving housing services within the community in both the public and private sectors; ensuring that localities are cleaner, greener and safer and to reduce crime in the neighbourhoods.
By taking an interest in your community, you can play a vital part in its future and in shaping the way in which services are delivered.
Testament to our commitment to the programme we are currently working with residents in the Moor Estate in Newbiggin to tackle the issue of litter, neglected gardens, vandalism and anti social behaviour.
In partnership with Northumbria Police and Wansbeck District Council we are enforcing a high profile presence on the estate and regularly liaising with residents to ensure any issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
This includes a late night working programme where members of our team and the police are patrolling estates during the evening to note down incidents of anti social behaviour.
The aim is to encourage residents to report such crimes with the reassurance that it will be dealt with promptly.
