New team on the beat
As part of Northumbria Police’s modernisation and in response to local views, there is to be an increase in the number of community support officers (CSOs) in Newbiggin.
Ashington Neighbourhood - which covers the Newbiggin area - has dedicated two CSOs to the Lynemouth and Newbiggin area and it is hopes that, in the near future, a further two will be provided.
Working alongside the uniformed officers, especially the beat manager PC Jackie Short (pictured), the support officers - Gary Collins and Kelly Womersley - provide a visible presence in the area to provide reassurance and to be a point of contact for the public.
They will attend Community meetings and get involved with projects throughout the area.
